Frequently asked questions
General
We work with a wide range of funding opportunities, including federal and provincial government grants, tax credits such as SR&ED, and foundation funding for nonprofits and charities. The right opportunities will depend on your organization, what you’re trying to accomplish, and what you’re actually eligible for. We can help you figure out where it makes sense to focus your time.
Every organization has different funding needs, so we take a boutique, tailored approach to pricing rather than using a one-size-fits-all model. Depending on your goals, we may support you with a single funding application, a defined project, an ongoing funding strategy, or a success-based arrangement. We offer flexible packages designed around the client, the scope of work, and the nature of the organization. We also provide accessible options for nonprofits and select organizations where appropriate. During our initial conversation, we’ll discuss what you need and recommend the approach that makes the most sense for your situation.
It really depends on the program. A smaller application might take a few weeks, while larger government funding programs can take several months from planning through submission. In most cases, we recommend giving yourself at least 6 to 10 weeks so there’s enough time to prepare a strong application without rushing.
Not always. Some programs require you to be incorporated, while others are available to sole proprietors, nonprofits, charities, or community organizations. It depends entirely on the funding program. This is one of the things we look at early on so you’re not spending time applying for something you don’t qualify for.
They’re all forms of funding, but they work differently. Grants generally don’t need to be repaid as long as you meet the program requirements. Tax credits can reduce the amount of tax you owe or reimburse you for certain eligible expenses. Forgivable loans start out as loans, but some or all of the amount may not need to be repaid if you meet the agreed conditions.Which one makes the most sense depends on your organization, the project, and what you’re looking to fund.
We can take care of the funding research, eligibility review, application writing, and keeping track of requirements and deadlines. We’ll need information from you along the way, such as financials, organizational documents, project details, and final approval before anything is submitted. The goal is to take as much of the process off your plate as possible, while making sure the application still reflects your organization and what you’re trying to accomplish.
